Hosted by the Library and UPAGrI research teams at the Indian Institute for Human Settlements, this exhibition delves into the various aspects of urban agriculture. The curated books and audiovisual materials capture what drives people to farm in cities, the multiple outcomes of urban agriculture, and how city planners can reimagine urban sustainability by including urban agriculture in their solution set. With diverse forms of urban farming at play, this exhibition aims to investigate what this practice offer—from diversifying diets to improving health and reducing ecological footprint to creating sustainable lifestyles.

Photo Essay - Gift a Garden Mission

Urban gardening is gaining momentum in Indian cities specifically among the middle class population. Organizations like Chennai Resilience Centre (CRC) recognize the potential of urban horticulture initiatives for building resilience within vulnerable communities. This photo-essay, walks us through how 'Gift a Garden' mission in children shelter homes is offering opportunities related to growing nutritious food in , along with improving physical and mental health, fostering social cohesion, and presenting skill development and employment possibilities. This story also highlights how urban gardening can be imagined as a nature-based solution for building community resilience.
